PREP: Four-year starter at running back
and free safety at Tarpon Springs High School…Coached by Bruce Buck…Holds the
longest touchdown reception in school history, a 97-yarder that he caught during
a televised rivalry game…Averaged 6.0 yards per carry during his career at
running back and averaged 75.0 tackles per season at free safety...Helped
Tarpon Springs become the first-ranked pass defense in the state of Florida in
2006, when the Spongers didn’t allow any passing touchdowns that season…In
addition to football, was a four-year starter and letterman at Tarpon Springs
in tennis, a three-year letter winner in track and field, a two-year starter
and letterman in basketball, while playing one year of baseball for the
Spongers…In addition to his athletics, was the class Valedictorian after
posting a 4.7 high school GPA.
PERSONAL: Born Steven Donald Bennett on
November 27, 1988, in Clearwater, Fla…Son of Steve and Connie Bennett…Has two
brothers, Jeff (18) and Michael (13)…Grandfather, Donald Bennett, played
basketball at UF from 1954-58.
